Implants at The House of Dental

At our dental clinic in Hove, we are experts in replacing teeth. Whether you have already lost a tooth or need a replacement, we use the latest technology to help you achieve the beautiful, natural smile you’ve always wanted.

With dental implants, we can replace single or multiple missing teeth, secure dentures for patients who have lost or wish to replace all their teeth due to irreversible dental pathologies.

If you are suitable for dental implants, Dr Jose Cordero Bayo will carry out a full comprehensive consultation, including 3D intraoral scans and 3D CT to accurately assess if dental implants are the best option for you.

Jose not only has a wealth of experience in dental implants, he has additional qualifications in Surgical & Restorative Implantology, a Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Implantology and has proudly achieved distinctions on his PhD in Health Science with his thesis on ‘Digital planning of bone defect for patients who require dental implants with customised block grafting’ .

The benefits of dental implants

Natural teeth

Dental implants look and feel just like natural teeth, giving you a fabulous smile and restoring your confidence.

Comfort

Dental implants provide stability and comfort without impacting healthy teeth.

Prevent ageing

By stimulating your bone structure and stabilising the surrounding teeth, dental implants can prevent ageing bone loss and the loss of surrounding teeth.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants look and act like your own teeth. They are usually made of pure titanium and are small cylindrical root-shaped structures which are placed gently and carefully into the bone. They are generally left undisturbed for eight to 12 weeks while your own bone grows on to the surface of the implant and integrates. Once this has occurred, we can then construct a specially designed solution that will restore and connect into your dental implant and replace your missing teeth. We can use dental implants to replace one tooth or a complete set of teeth, so you can carry on smiling, laughing and eating as you did before.

Tooth loss can be confidence destroying, as well as affecting how you eat and speak. But no one should be afraid to show their smile. Having dental implants can rebuild your smile and your confidence.

Gum disease is the most common cause of tooth loss. A good hygiene regime can help prevent this, but if the damage is advanced, House of Dental can help.

This treatment is carried out over several visits, but we will support you to help you feel as comfortable as possible. The extent of the damage will dictate how many teeth will need to be removed. Regardless of the number of teeth, we will always offer the option of a temporary restoration to maintain the aesthetics and function of your mouth.

Only when your gums have settled and the bones are ready will we put in the dental implants. Over time, the bone will fuse around the dental implant creating a secure base on which to attach a crown.

It can be a long journey, but we will always make sure you are comfortable at each stage and provide as much support as you need.

Denture Stabilisation

“I had my dental implants fitted in one day! I had the best care and I still can’t believe how fantastic my teeth look now. I highly recommend it”

Other options

Dental Bridges

If you have teeth missing, then one option to restore the space is a bridge. This utilises the neighbouring teeth which are crowned to support the false tooth in the gap. This is a fixed option and is cemented to the supporting teeth. This is a good long-term solution, but does require the removal of much of the tooth’s structure.

Dentures

Dentures are a long-established solution to tooth loss and can replace all or some missing teeth. Modern dentures are extremely realistic and generally far more comfortable than they used to be. However, they still need to be removed for cleaning and are not as stable as a fixed bridge.

How do I choose?

At The House of Dental at Brunswick Court, we will discuss all the available options with you and Dr Jose Cordero Bayo will help choose the best option suitable for you.

Am I Suitable For Dental Implants?

At the initial consultation we will carry out a detailed examination of your mouth to assess your suitability for implants. With modern day techniques, here at The House of Dental at Brunswick Court, we have found very few people who are not suitable for implants.

Teeth In One Day?

In the past, having many teeth replaced with dental implants could be a lengthy process. At The House of Dental at Brunswick Court, you can now have a full set of replacement teeth on a fixed bridge, all in one day! We work very closely with our technician to ensure that you leave our surgery with your new dental implants in place, by the end of the same day. If teeth require extraction, this is done at the same time as the dental implants are placed. We welcome your call to find out more.

FAQs

Will dental implants last a lifetime?

Some dental implants have been in the mouth for over thirty years. Their longevity is based upon numerous variables, such as your health and proper maintenance.

Can anyone have dental implants?

Health is the determining factor. Many of our more elderly patients are a better surgical risk than someone years younger suffering with poor general health. Older individuals are more likely to need dental implants because they have lost more teeth and have lost more supporting ridges and this procedure offers a great solution. A full assessment will always be our first stage in your care.

Will there be discomfort?

As with any surgery, local anaesthetics and sedation eliminate discomfort during surgery. Medication is always provided to alleviate any discomfort and after care is part of our clinic’s commitment to you, should it be necessary.

After anaesthesia wears off, depending on the treatment, it will vary from no discomfort at all to some swelling and bruising. This is a very individual factor. If you had any surgery before, please share the experience with your dentist.

How much time does it take?

It depends upon your condition and the extent of work involved. Every patient is individual. Operations may take from one half-hour to several hours. There may be one operation or a series of operations and follow-up visits, which would be scheduled over a period of months to ensure proper healing. We will discuss the specifics of timing with you before treatment begins and we continue to advice and care for you through every stage.

How long will I be off work?

Generally, we recommend the day of surgery, plus the following day for recovery. You can expect to have some minor swelling, discomfort and possibly bruising. The time taken off work is really an individual decision. Patients may be advised to avoid flying for the first two weeks.
